Lisa brings a unique experience to mental health therapy. She has over 20 years of clinical, strategic and executive leadership in the behavioral healthcare field. After graduating with her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver, Lisa worked with "at-risk" youth and families. Her work expanded to assessing and treating children, youth and adults who experienced a variety of mental health and substance use issues. Lisa provides individual, family and group therapies in the following therapeutic settings:
outpatient
intensive outpatient
partial hospitalization
residential
detoxification services and
inpatient psychiatric hospitals.
Lisa completed additional course work, clinical hours and supervision to obtain her certification to treat substance use disorders. Lisa is certified as an addiction specialist in the State of Colorado. This certification transferred to the State of Washington. She has worked with individuals who needed detox services, long term residential and outpatient services.
Lisa's clinical practice is rooted in a collaborative, integrative approach using evidenced-based treatment. The evidenced based approaches include motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. She is informed by anti-racist practices and policies and I am a strong LGBTQ+ ally.
In addition to providing therapeutic services to individuals and families, Lisa responded to critical mental health situations at local high schools and businesses in Denver and Seattle. The responses included consulting with management to determine best steps to support the students and employees during crisis situations. She consulted and presented on mental health and substance use issues at pediatric clinics, schools, and psychiatric hospitals to improve access to mental health services and reduce suicide rates.
As Lisa's career advanced, her passion for advanced learning and professional development reconnected her with the University of Denver where she became an adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Social Work. Lisa is passionate about supervising, training and mentoring new clinicians to the field, as well as professionals who are interested in seeking leadership opportunities.
Through the variety of professional development and training opportunities, Lisa advanced into strategic and executive leadership positions. She was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for an inpatient psychiatric hospital and a mental health startup company and a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for an inpatient psychiatric hospital in Denver. Lisa worked at large behavioral health companies. She understands how to lead and deliver results while building a positive and productive culture in complex organizations.
With a continuing passion for advanced learning, Lisa completed her Executive Master’s program in Business Administration through the University of Colorado. This program expands upon, and pairs well with her existing business knowledge and clinical background. This knowledge and expertise enable her to positively impact and partner with individuals and organizations as they grow.
In 2021, Lisa relocated to the Seattle-Bellevue area to provide executive leadership for eating disordered and substance use programs. With the variety of opportunities Lisa has experienced, she bring a robust and solid perspective to outpatient treatment specifically partnering with individuals to assist them in achieving a fulfilling life both personally and professionally.
